Pure motor hemiparesis and thalamic hemorrhage.

چکیده
and Orgogozo and Larsen4 provide powerful evidence that the supplementary motor areas modulate the motor programming of repetitive and sequential movements, including articulation, rather than attention. Since the supplementary sensory areas seem to have sensory functions analogous to the motor functions of the supplementary motor areas,’ I suspect the supplementary sensory areas have something to do with the actual processing of sensory information, including the comprehension of spoken language, that goes far beyond attentional mechanisms. What this processing entails, however, remains to be discovered.

Hypertensive putaminal hemorrhage presenting as pure motor hemiparesis.
A 44 year old hypertensive man presented with a pure motor hemiparesis, and CT scan showed a putaminal hemorrhage. The clinical course was characterized by rapid resolution of the deficits. This case illustrates a variety of putaminal hemorrhage of good functional and vital prognosis, and stresses the value of CT scanning as a tool for diagnosis and prognosis.
متن کاملCombination Treatment of Low-Frequency Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Intensive Occupational Therapy for Ataxic Hemiparesis due to Thalamic Hemorrhage
BACKGROUND Both low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (LF-rTMS) and intensive occupational therapy (OT) are clinically beneficial for post-stroke patients with upper-limb hemiparesis. However, the usefulness of LF-rTMS and intensive OT for ataxic hemiparesis (AH) is unknown. METHODS The study subjects included 7 patients with AH. All patients had ataxia and mild hemipares...
متن کاملHypesthetic-ataxic-hemiparesis in thalamic hemorrhage.
Acute onset hypesthetic-ataxic-hemiparesis is described in two hypertensive patients. Computed tomography (CT) showed an area of increased attenuation consistent with blood in contralateral thalamus. The pathophysiologic implications of the cerebellar and pyramidal system in thalamic hemorrhage is discussed.
متن کاملPontine hemorrhage presenting as ataxic hemiparesis.
THE CLINICAL PICTURE of hypertensive pontine hemorrhage is felt to be uniform. Coma is of abrupt onset with pupillary miosis, total external ophthalmoplegia, and quadriplegia. Death is the rule and occurs within hours to days. 2 This picture has been somewhat modified since the advent of CT scanning. Case reports have documented "submassive" pontine hemorrhage with partial to complete recovery....
متن کاملAmnesia following thalamic hemorrhage. Another stroke syndrome.
The clinical manifestations of thalamic hemorrhage frequently comprise hemiparesis, hemianesthesia, and oculomotor abnormalities. Since the advent of computed tomography, an amnestic syndrome following thalamic hemorrhage has been recognized, but the thalamic structures involved and the mechanism of amnesia have remained uncertain. We report a patient with sudden memory dysfunction following he...
